Artyfile Stream vs Spotify
Spotify is the broad everyday library; Artyfile Stream is a label’s hi-fi service that plays its own recordings as uncompressed WAV masters and pays rights holders a guaranteed minimum of €0.03 for every counted stream.
Both run in the browser and on iOS and Android, and since September 2025 both stream lossless audio. The differences lie in what you can play, how the money reaches the musicians, and how listening is billed.
Where Spotify is stronger
Catalogue and convenience: Spotify offers more than 100 million tracks plus podcasts and audiobooks, a free ad-supported tier, a one-month trial for new Premium users and downloads of up to 10,000 tracks on up to five devices. Premium includes lossless FLAC up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz. For the latest releases from every label, Spotify is the better tool.

How artists are paid: streamshare vs a user-centric floor
Spotify calculates recording royalties by streamshare — a track’s share of all streams in a market — and states that it does not pay a fixed per-stream rate. Since April 2024 a track must reach at least 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months to be included in that calculation at all. Third-party estimates of the resulting average are around US$0.003–0.005 per stream.
Artyfile Stream pays per counted stream (15 seconds or more) out of your own subscription’s artist pool: on the Standard plan €12.00 of €19.90, shared only among the recordings you played. Every counted stream pays the rights holders at least €0.03 — €0.02 for the master and €0.01 for songwriters and publishers — and there is no minimum number of streams before a recording is paid.

FLAC is lossless: decoded, it is sample-for-sample identical to its source. So the difference is not WAV versus FLAC as such, but the source. Artyfile produces its recordings itself and streams the approved master file unchanged — the same file its film and TV licensees receive — at 44.1 or 48 kHz and up to 24-bit.
Your own music
Spotify’s local-files feature plays audio files stored on your device. Artyfile Stream’s My Music stores your uploaded WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC files in a private cloud locker (10, 30 or 50 GB by plan) so they play on the web and in the apps on every device, without using your stream allowance.

- Is Artyfile Stream better quality than Spotify Lossless?
- Both are lossless. Spotify Premium streams FLAC up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz; Artyfile streams its own studio masters as uncompressed WAV at 44.1 or 48 kHz, up to 24-bit. The practical difference is the source: Artyfile delivers the master file of recordings it produced itself, unchanged.
