Apple Music is a full-catalogue service with hi-res lossless included; Artyfile Stream is a label’s hi-fi service for its own studio recordings, with a user-centric artist pool and a guaranteed €0.03 per stream.
Apple Music is the obvious choice if you live in Apple’s ecosystem and want everything in lossless. Artyfile Stream is built for a narrower purpose — and works on Android and in any browser as well as on iPhone and iPad.
Where Apple Music is stronger
More than 100 million songs, lossless ALAC from 16-bit/44.1 kHz up to hi-res 24-bit/192 kHz and Dolby Atmos at no extra cost, deep integration with iPhone, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV and CarPlay, offline downloads and a one-month trial. Artyfile offers none of the Apple-only integrations and no files above 48 kHz.

Your own library: Sync Library vs My Music
Apple Music’s Sync Library keeps up to 100,000 of your own songs in iCloud (files up to 200 MB) as long as you subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match. Artyfile Stream’s My Music is a private locker of 10, 30 or 50 GB depending on the plan; it accepts WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC files of up to 2 GB each and plays them in the same player as the catalogue, on the web, iOS and Android.
Plays from My Music never count against your monthly stream allowance, and your files are never matched against or replaced by a catalogue copy.
How artists are paid
Apple stated in 2021 that its average per-play rate was US$0.01 and that it pays the same 52% headline rate to all labels; it has not published a newer figure. Artyfile Stream shares each subscriber’s artist pool only among the recordings that subscriber played — €12.00 of €19.90 on the Standard plan — and guarantees at least €0.03 per counted stream.

- Yes. Artyfile Stream has apps for iOS and Android and a browser player, all on one account. Apple Music is also available on Android; Artyfile is the smaller, label-specific service with a fixed minimum payout.

- Yes, with My Music: 10, 30 or 50 GB of private storage for WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC files, played on web and app without using your stream allowance. Apple’s Sync Library holds up to 100,000 songs and needs an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription.
- Does Artyfile Stream offer hi-res like Apple Music?
