ArtyfileArtyfile Stream

How it works

Subscribe in the browser. Listen in the app.

Artyfile Stream is intentionally split between web and mobile. The website handles billing and account management; the iOS and Android apps handle uncompressed Hi-Fi playback. Here is the four-minute version of why and how.

1. Choose a plan and check out

On the Pricing page, pick Small (€9,90 / 100 streams), Medium (€14,90 / 250 streams) or Standard (€19,90 / 500 streams). Stripe Checkout takes you through payment in your familiar local payment methods (SEPA, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). The transaction is one-click cancellable from your Stripe receipt or our /account page.

2. Receive your login email

Within seconds you receive an email at the address you used in checkout. It contains your initial password (a random four-character string — change it on first login), your active stream count, and direct links to the iOS and Android app stores.

3. Sign in once at stream.artyfile.com/account

Set your real password, edit your name if you like, confirm your active subscription. This account also lets you manage billing through Stripe’s customer portal — change card, switch tier, or cancel at end-of-period.

4. Download the app and sign in

iOS and Android apps both use the same email and password. The app is the only place where music actually plays — uncompressed WAV streams require bandwidth and battery profiles that work better as a native app than as a browser tab.

5. Hi-Fi playback with single-device session

When you press play, the app fetches a signed token, the audio file streams direct from Artyfile’s storage at 44.1 kHz / 24-bit. Only one device can stream at a time per account — switch devices and the previous session is released within 25 seconds. After 15 seconds of continuous playback the stream counts against your monthly quota.

6. Top up or upgrade if you hit the cap

Standard subscribers get 500 streams a month — about 16 a day. If you hit the cap mid-month, top up with 100 additional streams for €4,99 from the app or /account page. Top-ups roll forward only until your subscription renews; no perpetual stockpile.

7. Why this much?

Spotify pays artists ~€0.003 per stream. Artyfile guarantees ≥€0.03 minimum and pays up to €0.20 per stream depending on your usage pattern. The math is in the brand pillar: a Standard subscriber listening 60 streams in a month sends €0.20 to the artist per stream. A heavy listener at 500 streams sends €0.024 per stream — still 8× the Spotify rate.

Q&A

What is Artyfile Stream?

Artyfile Stream is a Hi-Fi music streaming service that delivers uncompressed 44.1 kHz / 24-bit WAV audio recorded by professional orchestras (London Symphony Orchestra) at world-class studios (Abbey Road). It pays artists up to €0.20 per stream, which is more than 60× the typical Spotify rate.

How does Artyfile Stream differ from Spotify?

Three differences. First: Artyfile streams uncompressed WAV, Spotify streams compressed Ogg Vorbis or AAC. Second: Artyfile pays artists up to €0.20 per stream, Spotify pays around €0.003. Third: Artyfile caps monthly streams (100 / 250 / 500 by tier) so the math stays sustainable for the artists; Spotify is unlimited but the per-stream payout is correspondingly tiny.

Why does the playback only work in the app?

Browser audio APIs throttle background playback aggressively, transcode WAV to compressed formats by default, and burn battery in laptop tabs. The native iOS and Android apps preserve the uncompressed audio stream, integrate with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, and let you play with the screen off. The web surface (stream.artyfile.com) is for billing and account management.
