Artyfile Stream vs Deezer

Deezer and Universal Music Group announced the artist-centric payment system in September 2023, launching in France in the fourth quarter of that year. Streams of artists with more than 1,000 streams a month from at least 500 unique listeners count double; active searches and non-algorithmic listening can raise the weight up to four times; each user counts for at most 1,000 streams a month, and non-artist noise content is replaced with non-royalty content. Deezer reports that 85% of its partners were on the model in fiscal 2025.

Artyfile Stream does not pool subscriptions across all users. On the Standard plan €12.00 of each €19.90 subscription is that subscriber’s artist pool, shared only among the recordings they played that month; every counted stream (15 seconds or more) pays the rights holders at least €0.03. Someone who plays 60 tracks sends €0.20 per stream; someone who plays all 500 still sends the guaranteed €0.03, with Artyfile covering the difference.

More than 120 million songs, FLAC in 16-bit/44.1 kHz on every paid plan, offline downloads, a one-month trial and, in Germany, an ad-supported free tier. Paid Deezer users can also upload up to 2,000 MP3s. Artyfile’s catalogue is limited to its own 850+ recordings.
